Marina Urquidi - France/Mexico/USA

Published on 16 December 2003

I am a woman in my mid-fifties, I am Mexican and American and have lived in Paris, France for over thirty years. I have been working in communication for as long as I can remember, first as a journalist (photographer, radio, printed press), for the past 18 years as a translator, and since the Internet appeared, in cross-cultural communication through the Internet, including the development of Internet-based international, multilingual public-debate methods. I have been involved and working on communication issues with the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World since 1996 and I am a great believer in the positive results of group work among people without their having to meet face to face. This is what this work list is about.

For the WSF at Porto Alegre 2005, I am coordinating a group of facilitators planning a remote dialog session between a group of community residents in their place of residence and a group of community residents at Porto Alegre during the WSF. I am also facilitating one of these "remote groups" in the Belleville district in Paris, France.

As a member of the facilitation team of this work list and of the "dialog" worklist, I shall be helping communication flow and I shall be providing the translations of all your messages into the other working languages. I am also here to help you with any questions or problems you might meet.

I am looking forward to working with you all.
