Introduction of Tony FLEMING
Tony FLEMING
Wednesday, October 23, 2002 8:29 AM

Hello. I am Tony Fleming, a member of the World Federalist Association - USA. I consider myself a classic federalist, believing that democracy is an ideal which must be tempered as all forms of power and that certain inalienable principles must supersede the momentary passions of an inflamed populace if the values we espouse are to be survive.

Understanding the likely demographic of this group, I will likely come across as a conservative, holding out for sustainable and long-term solutions rather than quick fixes to the world's problems. Neither we nor an actual world parliament will be able to resolve human rights violations, corporate malfeasance or environmental degradation overnight or by a majority vote. We will have to get our hands dirty and deal with those aspect of politics we'd rather excise from governance. Unfortunately, that is the real world.

I'm looking forward to working with all the members of this simulation, to establish real solutions to the world's real problems.

Tony Fleming,
Washington, DC
