Presentation of Pierre CARO
Pierre CARO
Friday, October 25, 2002 1:18 PM

I am Pierre Caro, from Nantes, retired, 63 years
The world parliament should not keep away from hearing the eldest.

We should think that, in our Western countries - in other countries, one day, undoubtedly, and for one period more or less long - those people 55 years or older will be more numerous than those younger than 18 years; that half of the girls born in the third millennium, will live to be one hundred-years-old, and, in a big majority, when reaching the adult age, will be economically and socially independent, which was not the case of their grandmothers.

Also it is becoming necessary to think that we should consider the voluntary work in the world economy. That also we are surely modeling a future time when having a remunerated economic activity becomes imperative in front of impoverishment of the retreat régimes.

These are things also to deal with a World Parliament. What I mean with this is that it is no longer possible that the retired persons get involved only when misery, violence, injustice, the health of the poorest countries, ecological conscience.... does not stop deteriorating.

It is no longer possible to be an * amateur * during 20, 30 years or more that are offered to us, nor to make all our time as leisure time, when there are children, women and men, dying and suffering from injustice in the world.

I work also so that my * entry * into retirement might be like a new training for the development of a real project of society, personal and communitarian.

A new situation requires a new job, I wish dedicate this part of life to learn in order to understand and to undertake, so that my grandchildren and all their friends live in a fairer, more responsible world, more united, more just.

I want them to be able to learn from my good and bad experiences.

I want the prolongation of life to result in the ability of grandparents to take courses at the faculty or the university at the same time as their grandchildren, of parents to live a part of their retirement at the same time as their children, of children and grandchildren to find their, or some, grandparents so that they can deal with the sufferings of separations, the dramas of accidents or illnesses, . to allow the emergence of a supplement of happiness, of pleasure, welfare and well-living, for the greatest number possible.

More than ever the training all along the life, opened to the reciprocal exchanges of knowledge, to everybody and for everybody, in dignity and respect, should to be taken into account, to be developed for the liberty of all.

I am delighted with a real World Parliament that could help me through the involvement of all.

Thank you and bravo for the initiative, long life.
Very sincerely, Pierre
