Welcome!
My name is Kevin Hansen, and I am a 42 year old male businessman and
environmentalist in the United States in North America. I am deeply moved by
the caring and commitment of the many people whose biographies I have read
on the subject of a World Parliament. I am deeply committed to the principle
that we are all citizens of the world, as I tell my 3 teenage children.
I have personally seen the power of organized citizens groups to change
political and business agendas, so I am very excited by the possibilities of
the World Parliament.
Real global democracy is an essential balancing force to the growth of
multinational corporations that are now capable of avoiding national laws.
Personally, I am an activist for Green Design (engineering, science and
architecture) and as an organizer for the Earth Charter Summit in
Philadelphia in both 2001 and 2002. I was the organizer of the Responsible
Business Caucus at the Earth Charter Summit, and I am a member of several
organizations promoting the redevelopment of contaminated properties in
urban areas.
I am a supporter of the Earth Charter as a statement of principles around
which global society could be organized.
Professionally, I am a geophysicist and hydrogeologist with Bachelors and
Masters Degrees primarily involved in finding clean water for an engineering
company, and I am happy to find that my work is now more closely coinciding
with my personal commitment to the environment.
In this regard, I will do what I can to help to organize the voice of the
Philadelphia region in United States of America towards participation in the
World Parliament process.
