Introduction of Lucile W. GREEN

Glad to get onboard while WP is talking of ethics--one of my specialties as a prof. of philosophy for 40 years. In my experience one of the greatest accomplishments of the last century was the proclamation of a new *global* ethics by the Parliament of the World's Religions It is based on the fact that all of the major religions include some form of statement of the Golden Rule.

Agreed to by respected leaders of all the world's major religions at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1993, were the following standards derived from the "universally accepted Golden Rule." Our "World Parliament" could do no better than to incorporate them in our efforts at consensus:

The Principles of a Global Ethic
Every human being should be treated humanely
Commitment to a culture of non-violence and respect for life
Commitment to a culture of solidarity and a just economic order
Commitment to a culture of tolerance and a life of truthfulness
Commitment to a culture of equal rights and partnership between men and women

May we build on this *global* achievement by another Parliament!

Dr. Lucile W. Green,
"First Elder" of the Global People's Assembly
