Introduction of Bob DICK
Bob DICK
Saturday, December 07, 2002 6:22 PM

I am a citizen of the world living in Brisbane, Australia.

I am 67 years old, living in a permanent relationship with the woman I love. Between us we have 7 children, all now adults, and (to our knowledge) 14 grandchildren.

I work as an academic and a consultant. My areas of interest are community and organisational change, action research, and participation.

My interest in this forum arises from a belief that we have a global economy which is largely uncontrolled. We are without global governance or global ethics to alleviate its effects. I think, therefore, that a system of world governance is needed.

In particular, I believe we need social and communication structures that support global participation. We need a system of ethics which allows as much individual and group freedom as possible while reducing exploitation of the disadvantaged.

I am not optimistic of the outcome. I look forward to changing my mind as the discussion develops.

Warm regards to all - Bob
