Greetings,
There is an organization called World Social Forum started in Porto Alegre, Brazil. <www.forumsocialmundial.org.br> They have annual conferences which are growing by leaps and bounds. Their motto is * Another World is Possible *. They do not talk about world government, but their values and ideals are quite similar to many of those expressed on this listserve. They want an economic alternative (i.e. democracy) as an alternative to globalization. Thousands of NGOs are joining under their banner.
There is another organization called Proutist Universal <http://www.prout.org/>. A very important concept therein is that one cannot separate politics from spirituality. Morality and spirituality are the requisite base for a sound government - any government and certainly a world government. I believe a few people have written on this necessity already. Another very important concept in PROUT is the stipulation that there must be a ceiling on the amount of wealth that any one individual can accumulate. This would perhaps be a very unpopular platform. However, if one realizes the basic economic theorem that individual desires and wants are unlimited while the amount of physical / material goods is very finite - it is a logical stipulation for bringing justice into the world economic scene.
Regarding what you have written on local and regional assemblies, what is the official platform of world parliament? what is its manifesto? what does World Parliament officially stand for that we can go go the people and say, this is what we represent...?
Best wishes, Garda
