Introduction of Fernando IGLESIAS
Fernando IGLESIAS
Tuesday, 8 April 2003
Hi! My name is Fernando A. Iglesias. I'm a 45 years old Argentine, Spanish
and Italian citizen who nowadays lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am a
journalist and writer specialized in Globalization and Human Rights and
works for the Universidad de Lomas de Zamora, at Buenos Aires.
My basic experience in Politics came from when I worked for Human Rights
organizations in the hard times of the fight against the Argentine military
dictatorship.
Sometimes I write for *Avvenimenti* (an Italian magazine) and work for RAI -
TV.
I'm also the responsible in Argentina for the *World Democracy Campaign* of
the World Citizen Foundation and have participated for the WCF at the
*Congreso del Mercosur por la unificación política sudamericana* (Buenos
Aires 2000), the *Seminario oficial por la Corte Penal Internacional*
(Buenos Aires 2001), the *Forum Internacional de Montreal*- democratizing
Global Governance (Montréal 2002) and the *World Social Forum* (Porto
Alegre, 2003).
The problems of World Democracy and institutions as the WP are in the center
of my life and work. I've started to write in the topic in 1994 and have
already published three of my works:
*República de la Tierra-Globalización: el fin de las Modernidades
Nacionales*, (Republic of Earth- Globalization: The end of National
Modernities) essay, published by Editorial Colihue, Buenos Aires; *Twin
Towers: el colapso de los estados nacionales*, (Twin Towers- The collapse of
National States) essay, published by Edicions Bellaterra, Barcelona and
*Twin Towers: Collapse*, in *9/11 Anthlogy-Unveiling the real terrorist
mind* antologhy published by Xlibris, United States, with Noam Chomsky,
Mumia Abu Jamal, John Esposito, Howard Zinn, Solomon Davidoff and Michael
Parenti.
Now, I'm preparing *Globalizar la Democracia-Democratizar la Globalización*
(300 pages, in process of editorial preparation for publication at Editorial
Sudamericana) and *Ten global laws on Globalization- a new Copernical
revolution* (323 pages in English, in process of redaction and correction).
So that excuse me if I don't write so much and if I send (just sometimes)
some mail with some attached line, but I spend most of my day writing in the
PC and have written on the topics in discussion. I arrive late, but I hope
that the Forum will be a suitable source of new ideas and concepts for my
work. Perhaps I will be able to contribute to the discussion on the matters.
(OK: enough for today, but let me say that -even if I understand very well t
he Zita's feelings- her proposal of a *Parliament without politicians* is
really intriguing for me).
