World Parliament now
Rasmus TENBERGEN
Thursday, 17 April 2003

Dear all,

how can we actually create a world parliament?

There are two approaches:

1. the * prepatory process * approach 2. the * let's do it now * approach

Even though I see value in certain prepatory processes (for example in this forum), I still do not understand why it should not be right to follow the second approach. Why not set up a * world parliament * of self- selected individuals on the internet, invite everybody to join and to participate in a democratic process and address all the problems (digital divide, representation etc.) inside this forum. The more people participate, the more powerful it would be. If something goes in the wrong direction, one can submit petitions to change this.

This is the approach we follow in the global democracy experiment http://www.tgde.org and I am very interested in discussing counter arguments here or there and even more interested in actually starting the world parliament unless someone convinces me that we need more preparation...

Sincerely,

Rasmus Tenbergen
