I respectfully disagree with Frank. The problem is not terrorism. That is
the symptom. The cause is the lack of perceived human dignity by billions of
poor people.
The WP should remedy that and * that * is how terrorism will be solved.
Re Iraq and the war etc. I wish to point everyone's attention to the
proposal we made * before * the war how to get rid of Saddam in a much
better cleaner legitimate manner (including the option of force but
legitimized by an democratic opposition government to Saddam). We called
Pre-emptive Democracy.
Today; we, as democracy engineers, have suggested a clean process to create
a democratic government in Iraq.
Bush says one thing but forgets the most important: for representative
self-government to work, you need the consent of the governed. Wolfowitz and
Rumsfeld are big talkers and won a war but they understand nothing about
democracy building, apart from nice propaganda.
For both proposals, see our website at http://www.worldcitizen.org
I hope that we will stop the sterile pro/anti US argument here. Truth is
that Bush says the right words but does not understand how to apply them,
and is prisoner of an arrogant cadre of ideologues.
And lets stop hearing the righteous pro-war stuff from some contributors.
The war was stupid and highly risky. It is the cause of the protests today
and maybe killing tomorrow (and of the looting of Baghdad museums, the
heritage of humanity).
It makes me sick to my stomach to hear war justifications when a * better *
result could have been achieved with * less * dead and destruction if only
Bush had been a bit smarter.
